In this easy activity you will simulate how hard it is to go up on your toes without the support of a pointe shoe, like what Marie Taglioni did.
Step 1: Take off your shoes and wear socks or go barefoot.
Step 2: Find a table or sturdy chair to rest your hands on to help you keep balance.
Step 3: Slowly start to rise up onto your toes like shown in the picture below.
Step 4: Try and rise up even higher onto your toes.
Step 5: Slowly come down from the risen position.
You may have found yourself relying on the item you chose to help you keep your balance. Imagine doing this without the extra help. This is what Marie Taglioni accomplished.
